Mao-Jan Lin (林茂然) - About me
I am a PhD student in Computer Science at Johns Hopkins University, advised by Dr. Ben Langmead. I develop computational tools for analyzing long- and short-read sequencing data for genomic research. My research focuses on analyzing and mitigating reference bias in sequence alignment. I also work on profiling the genes that encode the adaptive immune receptor repertoire (AIRR).
Background
I obtained my B.S. in Electrical Engineering (2016) and M.S. in Electronics Engineering from National Taiwan University (2019). In my master years I was advised by Dr. Yi-Chang Lu, developing an ASIC design for sequence alignment. From 2020 to 2021, I worked with Dr. Pei-Lung Chen, developing computational tools to profile T-cell receptor (TR) genes and immunoglobulin genes (IG) with targeted sequencing data.
For my PhD research, I work on tools to measure and reduce reference bias in sequence alignment. I also work on profiling the IG gene loci in human samples with Dr. Yana Safonova.
